Papers of Charles G. Mayers, an immigrant from Manchester, England and resident of Madison (Wis.) where he held several positions in city government, most notably city assessor. Mayers served in the 11th Wisconsin Infantry in the Civil War and was active as a Mason, poet, and amateur actor in a local theater group.
